Makana grew up in a fishing and farming family in West Oʻahu. He is now a homeowner in Kapolei, caring for his retired parents. Raised in the St. Rita’s Catholic Church community, he attended Nānākuli Elementary and Kamehameha Schools before earning degrees from MIT, JSTSC/GTU, and UH Law. His diverse career includes roles as a farmer, consultant, teacher, small business owner, State Senate staffer, analyst at the Iron Workers, and nonprofit leader focused on reforestation and food security.

“Moon” Kahele is a Pure-Hawaiian, Single-Divorced Father, Army Veteran, Retired DoJ Employee who resides w/his Ohana in a Kapolei Hawn Hmstd Comm. With over three decades of Fed Law Enforcement and Corp Safety & Security experience, “Moon” is focused on looking-out for the needs of our Community. Water, Opala, Sewer, Traffic, Homelesskk, etc. As a Dad of a HS Student, he also monitors DOE Standards & Activities to ensure that our “Keiki” receive the “Best Schooling” available. Mahalo!
