Clarissa Burkert M.D. is a long time Wailupe resident with a background in medicine, disaster planning, conservation and Hawaiian land management. She is a Director-at-Large for ‘Āina Haina Prepared, member of the Medical Reserve Corps, the American Red Cross, and the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary. Clarissa is also a Trustee with the Hawai’i / Palmyra Chapter of the Nature Conservancy, and a student at the UH Manoa School of Hawaiian Studies.

Doorae Shin is a lifelong activist and community advocate. She has nearly 15 years of experience organizing and advocating for sustainability and progressive change in Hawaiʻi. She has served in roles as the University of Hawaiʻi’s first ever Student Sustainability Coordinator, Kōkua Hawaiʻi Foundation’s Plastic Free Hawaiʻi Program Manager, and Surfrider Foundation’s Oʻahu Chapter Coordinator. She is now a consultant supporting non-profit climate and community efforts in Hawaiʻi.

Aloha! I was born and raised in Niu and have lived here most of my life. I am Secretary of the Niu Valley Community Association and happy to have helped build our community’s first playground in 2016. I have been on or supported the Neighborhood Board for over 20 years.
