The committee’s mission statement: Work to educate and encourage participation by the community on issues involving Kailua and provide information about available government services.

Community and Government Engagement Committee
June 2025 Meeting Report
Chair, Gary Weller

1. A committee meeting was held in-person on June 17, 2025, chaired by Gary Weller and attended by committee member Donna Wong and residents John Foti and David Pound.

2. Continuing issues were discussed.

3. Resident John Foti introduced the Manuiwa o ka Malanai proposed Fisheries Management Plan. This issue will be moved to the Planning, Zoning, and Environment Committee in August.

4. Resident David Pound raised Kalaheo Hillside DHHL Project Site concerns including runoff issues at the Kalaheo Hillside parcel caused by site survey work.
