• Safety Tips: Drive safely, please obey all traffic laws, and do not drink and drive.
• Valor at Pearlridge Center will close by 10:00 p.m. with no more overnight events.
• A robbery occurred on Monday, March 24, 2025 around 2:47 a.m. at 7-Eleven on Aiea Heights Drive.
• A burglary occurred on Thursday, March 6, 2025 at the Newtown Recreation Center.

Oʻahu Community Correctional Facility (OCCC) – [1:04:47]: OCCC Warden John Schell shared updates on legislation related to correctional facilities and the judicial process. Warden Schell provided answers to frequently asked questions. OCCC is a jail for pre-trial and misdemeanor offenders. OCCC has a current population of about 925 inmates. Warden Schell provided a timeline for the new OCCC project.

Hawaiian Electric – [1:31:47]: Shanelle Aoki shared Hawaiian Electric’s proposed project to repower the Waiau Power Plant, including a community benefits package with ongoing outreach through an advisory group. Hawaiian Electric is working to obtain permitting and regulatory approvals with a PUC (Public Utilities Commission) application filed in March 2025 (https://hpuc.my.site.com/cdms/s/puc-case/a2Gcs000001nJiTEAU/pc199643). The project is scheduled to be completed in 2033. By replacing six aging, fossil-fueled steam generators with six modern, smaller, more efficient and fuel-flexible combustion turbine units that run cleaner, quieter and fewer hours than the technology it replaces, Hawaiian Electric will enable more renewable energy onto the Oʻahu electric grid, help reduce carbon emissions and contribute to Hawaii’s 100% renewable energy goal. Special Treatment Facility in Royal Summit – [1:51:32]: Residents raised concerns about Catholic Charities’ special treatment facility starting operations in Royal Summit this summer and a safety action plan. Chair Wood responded and plans to add this topic on the July 2025 meeting agenda.
ʻAiea District Park Benches – [2:03:23]: A resident asked if concrete slabs can be placed under park benches to prevent grass from growing under the benches.
Tree Droppings – [2:04:10]: A resident raised concerns about fruits and leaves dropping from a tree on private property onto public property at the intersection of Aiea Heights Drive and Hakina Street. What is the process to notify the property owner about maintaining their tree?
Special Treatment Facility in Royal Summit – CONTINUED – [2:07:21]: “Joanne” suggested inviting the State of Hawai‘i Department of Health to attend the next ʻAiea Neighborhood Board meeting to talk about regulatory requirements related to the special treatment facility in Royal Summit.
2025 Neighborhood Board Election – [2:08:42]: Kevin Lye raised concerns about the 2025 Neighborhood Board Election.
Special Treatment Facility in Royal Summit – CONTINUED – [2:09:51]: Board members Tsuji, Wood, and Arakaki had a discussion on inviting the State of Hawai‘i Department of Health to attend the next ʻAiea Neighborhood Board meeting.

Presentation: PBR Hawaii Changes Under Consideration to TheBus Routes/Department of Transportation Services (DTS) Bus Rail Integration Project Brief and Discussion – [2:12:03]: Jay Egusa (DTS) introduced Dave Simpson (PBR Hawaii) who presented proposed bus service changes for Skyline Phase 2 beginning service from East Kapolei (Kualakaʻi) to Middle Street (Kahauiki) on Wednesday, October 1, 2025. Simpson highlighted the proposed Route A truncation, discontinuation of Route 20, and proposed addition of Route U (Māpunapuna-UH Mānoa) and Route W (HNL Airport to Waikiki). Beginning on Wednesday, October 1, 2025, Skyline is proposed to operate from 4:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. from Sunday through Thursday and 4:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. from Friday through Saturday.
