This manual\, based on Federal Highway Administration studies and guidelines\, states t hat crosswalks across certain multiple lanes and high-volume roads such as Nuʿuanu Avenue should not be marked unless substantial improvements such as raised medians or pedestrian-activated traffic signals are installed. Under the future resurfacing project\, these improvements will be installe d with the marked crosswalk. The Department of Design and Construction (DD C) shared these improvements are planned to be included in a future Rehabi litation of Streets project\, which is pending the availability of funds.
