HONOLULU — As the City and County of Honolulu prepares for another round of severe weather expected to bring heavy rain through the weekend, the Waialua Community Assistance Center (CAC) and Distribution Hub will temporarily pause operations on Saturday, April 11, and Sunday, April 12, as a precautionary measure. The site is scheduled to resume services on Monday, April 13, weather permitting.
The CAC has been operating since March 26 to support residents affected by recent flooding, providing access to medical care, replacement of essential documents such as IDs and vital records, housing assistance, case management, and other disaster recovery resources.
“Out of an abundance of caution, we are temporarily pausing operations at the Community Assistance Center and Distribution Hub this weekend as we prepare for severe weather,” said Mayor Rick Blangiardi. “The safety of both residents and our staff has to come first. We will resume services as soon as conditions allow and remain committed to supporting our communities through recovery.”
On its most recent full day of operations, the CAC assisted 55 households. In total, more than 1,200 households have received support since the center opened, reflecting the continued need for recovery services across impacted communities.
