Temporary storm debris drop-off sites close; residents directed to City Convenience Centers

HONOLULU — The City and County of Honolulu today announced that the ʻŌtake Camp and Long Bridge debris collection sites will no longer accept storm-related debris, effective immediately.
These temporary collection sites were established in the immediate aftermath of the Kona low storm that struck Oʻahu on Friday, March 20, as part of the City’s emergency response led by the Department of Facility Maintenance (DFM). The sites supported ongoing, around-the-clock recovery operations, including debris removal from ʻŌtake Stream, hauling operations near ʻŌtake Bridge and Long Bridge, and cleanup efforts across some of the hardest-hit communities.
With significant progress made in clearing debris, restoring waterways, and stabilizing impacted areas, the City is now transitioning away from temporary collection operations and returning to standard disposal services.
Residents are asked to bring any remaining materials to their nearest City Convenience Center for proper disposal. For a full list of locations, hours of operation, and accepted materials, please visit www.opala.org.
The City thanks residents for their cooperation and patience as recovery efforts continue across Oʻahu.
