City urges the public not to move or burn storm debris

HONOLULU — The City and County of Honolulu is reminding the public not to move debris from beaches into roadways or other public areas, as cleanup operations continue following the recent storm.

Debris removal efforts are currently focused on residential neighborhoods most impacted by flooding. Relocating shoreline debris can delay progress in those communities and create additional safety concerns. The public is also urged not to burn debris, as unauthorized bonfires can quickly get out of control and divert Honolulu Fire Department resources from higher-priority emergency responses.

We appreciate the community’s cooperation and patience as recovery work continues across Oʻahu.
