City crews continue around-the-clock recovery efforts across O‘ahu

DFM crews load and haul storm debris as part of ongoing recovery operations across O‘ahu

HONOLULU — The City and County of Honolulu’s Department of Facility Maintenance (DFM) continues its around-the-clock response to recent storm impacts, carrying out critical recovery operations across Oʻahu.

DFM crews are actively working in multiple locations, including Waialua, Waiʻanae, Mānoa, and other impacted communities, as part of a coordinated, citywide effort. Key operations include hauling stream debris near ʻŌtake Bridge and Long Bridge, along with removing mud and sediment from ʻŌtake Stream to improve water flow and reduce potential flooding risks.

“These crews have been working tirelessly, day and night, to help our communities recover,” said Mayor Rick Blangiardi. “Director Gene Albano, Deputy Director Warren Mamizuka, and the entire DFM team have stepped up in a big way, taking on some of the toughest and most important work in this recovery. Their commitment to keeping our residents safe and restoring these areas is something we are incredibly grateful for.”

Crews are also clearing and hauling storm-related trash and debris along the Farrington Highway corridor, with materials transported to the Waipio Corporation Yard for proper handling and disposal.

These ongoing efforts are focused on restoring infrastructure, maintaining public safety, and supporting community recovery. Work will continue in affected areas as crews address remaining debris and storm-related damage.

Residents are encouraged to use caution around waterways and report debris or hazards to City services as recovery operations continue.
