A. Neighborhood Commission Survey – Members of the Commission’s Survey Committee shall review, discuss and make recommendations to the Survey Committee’s Commission Survey new updates for compilation prior to final annotation and presentation to full Commission for acceptance consideration.

V. ANNOUNCEMENTS
A. Next Meeting – The next regular meeting of the Neighborhood Commission is scheduled for Monday, January 27, 2025 at 6:00 p.m. on Webex, and at Kapālama Hale.

I. CALL TO ORDER – [0:00:06]: Committee Chair Melendrez called the meeting to order at 6:01 p.m.

Committee Members Present: Mahealani Bernal, Steven Melendrez, Larry Veray, and Claire Tamamoto (6:18 p.m.).

Committee Members Absent: Richard Oshiro.

Guests: Dylan Whitsell, Travis Saito and Dylan Buck (Neighborhood Commission Office – NCO). There were 7 total attendees. Name not included if not legible on sign-in sheet, not signed in and/or not participated in discussion.

II. PUBLIC CONCERNS – [0:01:13]: No discussion.

III. APPROVAL OF COMMITTEE MINUTES – [0:01:25]

Monday, September 30, 2024 Written Summary for Video Record – [0:01:25]: [0:03:44] – Bernal MOVED and Veray SECONDED to approve the Written Summary for Video Record as written. Hearing no objections or abstentions, the motion was ADOPTED; 3-0-0 (Aye: Bernal, Melendrez, Veray; Nay: None; Abstain: None) – [0:03:45]

IV. UNFINISHED BUSINESS – [0:03:56]

Welcoming of Commissioner Veray to the Survey Committee – [0:03:56]: Committee Chair Melendrez congratulated Commissioner Veray on his appointment to the Survey Committee and recognized his years of service in the military.

Consideration of establishing a Permitted Interaction Group (PIG) to support the Survey Committee per the Office of Information Practices (OIP) Investigative requirements – [0:05:09]: Committee Chair Melendrez reported that of the responses he received from Board Members regarding their feedback on the draft survey, the Board Members personal information has been removed. Committee Chair Melendrez proposed that a Permitted Interaction Group (PIG) could be formed to analyze the responses, or the Committee as a whole could complete that task.

Questions, comments and concerns followed – [0:09:20]. Following discussion, the sentiment of the Committee was to not establish a PIG.

Neighborhood Commission Survey – [0:16:43]: Committee Chair Melendrez continued the previous conversation by reporting that the Committee will divide the workload equally and come prepared to the next meeting to edit the draft survey based on the responses collected from Board Members. The following assignments were made: Melendrez – Pages 1-4; Veray – Pages 5-8; Bernal – Pages 9-12; and Tamamoto – Pages 13-18.
