CALL TO ORDER – [0:00:03]: Chair Roberta Mayor called the meeting to order at 7:04 p.m. A quorum was established with 13 members of the Board present. Note: This 15-member Board requires eight (8) members to establish a quorum and to take official Board action.

Transparency in Kamilo Nui Valley [0:46:58]: Member Knudsen shared that a resident has organized for Hawaii News Now to be present in Kamilo Nui Valley to address the lack of transparency from Kamehameha Schools.

Resident Notification Concern [0:48:26]: Member Altonn shared her concerns regarding the renaming of Hawaii Kai Drive which would need residents and businesses to change their address entirely.

CORE Program Announcement [0:55:25]: Mike Buck shared that he is spearheading the City and County of Honolulu’s Crisis Outreach Response and Engagement (CORE) program to help address houseless residents in the community.

Potential High-Rise Concern [0:59:49]: Resident Joy Schoenmaker shared her concern regarding the alleged proposed high-rise where the current JAIMS property is located.

Loose Utility Covers [1:09:22]: Resident Bethany Lee shared her concern regarding the many loose utility covers on sidewalks around Hawaii Kai. She shared residents can hurt themselves if they are out walking and are unaware of the loose covers.

Steel Plate Pile Concern [1:14:05]: Member Lyons shared her concern regarding a steel plate pile by the Hui Nalu Halau and asked if it is for an upcoming project.

Special Management Area Permit Request for TMK 3-9-028:021 at 26 Hanapepe Place [1:18:10]: Jim Hayes from Planning Solutions, Inc. shared a PowerPoint presentation regarding the Special Management Area (SMA) permit request for renovations being done at 26 Hanapepe Place. He shared the current home will experience a slight rotation of the foundation where the home will be facing a different direction and have amenities added to the property.

Wahi Pana – A Public Art Project [1:29:33]: Representatives from the Mayor’s Office of Culture & the Arts (MOCA) provided a PowerPoint presentation regarding a proposed public art project that will service different areas of the Hawaii Kai community. They plan to install 3 glass art pieces in a specific area of Koko Crater Botanical Garden and have a QR code placed in different areas of Hanauma Bay to add a virtual component to the project.
