4. The water quality of the Ala Wai Boat Marina must be improved. Currently, it smells like sewage and is full of trash. The pump out station that allows boat owners to empty out their toilets has been shut down for more than 10 years. It is a public health issue and must be addressed.

Ala Wai Bridge Project – [0:22:34]: Laura Ruby shared that she has been appointed as a “preservation consultant” for the Ala Wai Canal site (Federal Highway Administration recognized Ruby as a consulting party under Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act of 1966) and invited people to connect with her. Matson, St. Denis, and Murchie also shared comments on the Ala Wai Bridge project.

Raised Crosswalks – [0:37:54]: Bruce Wong would like to see more raised crosswalks in the neighborhood to slow traffic down like the raised crosswalks by McKinley High School. Does Gov have a list of state programs/projects that are impacted by federal funding cuts?
Except for the University of Hawai‘i, Executive State departments have not received award terminations. Several awards that were terminated were subsequently rescinded due to court action. Congress is currently working to finalize the federal fiscal year 2025 budget through a process called reconciliation and after the budget bill is enacted, significant recissions are anticipated for the FFY25 awards to the states.
Does Gov have any taskforce addressing the sinking of the south shore of Oahu?
No, there is no taskforce for south shore. DLNR and OPSD continue to monitor and identify climate resiliency projects.
Are deportations without due process a possibility for people in Hawaii?
The 5th and the 14th Amendments of the U.S. Constitution says that everyone has a right to due process. The Department of the Attorney General will continue to uphold the rule of law.

Renkon Project at Natatorium for August 6th – [2:18:18]: Noe Tanigawa and other artists in the community are commemorating the 80th anniversary of the nuclear bombings in Hiroshima and Nagasaki. The Renkon (lotus root) project plans to project a display onto the facade of the Waikiki Natatorium on the evening of Wednesday, August 6, 2025 from sunset around 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Tanigawa also shared plans to have live dance, music, and projections of atomic bomb survivors. Proposed Bus Service Changes for Skyline Phase 2 – [2:30:42]: Eric Grover (DTS) introduced Theresa Dean (PBR Hawaii) who presented proposed bus service changes for Skyline Phase 2 opening on Wednesday, October 1, 2025. TheBus Route A is proposed to be truncated to Lagoon Drive, Route U is proposed to add service from Māpunapuna to UH Mānoa, Route 20 is proposed to be discontinued, and Route W is proposed to be added with limited stop service from the airport to Waikiki. Route E is proposed to be rerouted to Wahiawā to provide mauka-makai service. The deadline for questions and comments is Tuesday, July 15, 2025. St. Louis Heights Subdistrict 1 – [2:55:08]: Allen provided the report. The St. Louis Heights Community Association will meet on Monday, May 12, 2025 at 7:00 p.m. at Hokulani Elementary School.
Kapahulu Subdistrict 2 – [2:55:22]: Miranda provided the report and highlighted May as “bike month” in Honolulu, so please give bikers space and share the road.
Diamond Head Subdistrict 3 – [2:55:41]: Linda Wong raised concerns about the Diamond Head showers and requested a Renkon Project representative to contact her.
Board Committee Reports – [2:56:41]: Chair Welch returned to Board Committee Reports and asked board members about their committee chairship assignments.
