a. NR – PUBLIC INVITED TO TAKE 2026 RED HILL SURVEY, January 14, 2026 – The survey is available online at: RedHillSurvey.com – The survey must be completed online or mailed using the postage-paid envelope by February 28, 2026.
b. The Resilience Office hosted a virtual webinar on January 15th for community members to learn about the Flood Insurance Rate Map Update. Hereʻs the recording and slides on their website. Hereʻs their tutorial for how to view a property on the City’s flood map viewer, and a flier listing relevant National Flood Insurance Program premium discounts that may be available. c. Rep. Tokuda is planning another round of in-person town halls AND agriculture listening sessions. Mauna Kea Community Workshop (https://www.facebook.com/share/1AYsVwSARF/) These gatherings are part of a series of ten paeʻāina-wide, hybrid community meetings convened by the Mauna Kea Stewardship and Oversight Authority (MKSOA), with support from our consultant team, Kua o Wākea Project website, now live at kuaowakea.org.These workshops build upon previous community efforts, including the Mauna Kea House Legislative Working Group established through House Resolution 33, Act 255, which created the MKSOA, as well as the Community Talk Story Sessions held on Hawaiʻi Island in 2025. 1. Makua ʻŌlelo Competition – Seeking Speakers Join us for Hoʻōla i ka ʻŌlelo, a Hawaiian language speaking competition celebrating adult voices and language journeys. Open to Novice and Advanced speakers ages 21–55, this event uplifts ʻŌlelo Hawaiʻi through meaningful haʻiʻōlelo shared with confidence, pride, and purpose.
