A. The next Mililani Mauka/Launani Valley Neighborhood Board will be held on Tuesday, May 20, 2025, at 7:00 p.m. at Mililani Mauka Elementary School and via WebEx.
B. City and County of Honolulu and Hawaiʻi are partnering to fight against hunger: Neighborhood Board Assistant Camilia Epa Gomes will be collecting donated canned goods at tonight’s meeting.

Military Representative Report – [0:05:23]: Colonel Melander reported the following: Artillery and mortar live fire training on Schofield Barracks will be through February 18-23, 2025 and February 24-28, 2025. There will be day and evening demolitions training on Schofield Barracks from February 18-21, 2025. The National Vietnam Veterans Day Parade will take place on March 29, 2025. The opening ceremony will begin at 4:30 p.m. at Fort Derussy and the parade will begin at 6:00 p.m. along King Kalakaua Avenue in Waikiki. The next job fair is on Tuesday, April 22, 2025 at Aliamanu Military Reservation Gym from 8:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Update on Affordable Housing Project at Mililani High School – [0:08:28]: Chair Hazama shared that the presentation will be deferred until the presenter arrives.
Update on Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between Dept. of Education and City Parks and Recreation on Community Use of New Mililani Middle School Parking Lot – [0:08:35]: Chair Hazama shared this presentation will not be ready at this time and will be deferred to a future Board meeting.
VI. RESIDENT/COMMUNITY CONCERNS – [0:08:49]
Private Company Signs – [0:09:00] Member Kuehu brought to attention that it appears the community association for Launani Valley that is now under a new on-site property management company (Hawaiiana Management) has hung up 3 large informational signs using C&C street signs to hold up their banners along Wikaʻo Street. She mentioned that she spoke on the phone with the site manager who insisted that it’s fine. She also reached out to a City Department of Transportation Services rep about the issue and the rep also confirmed that it wasn’t allowed. Member Kuehu would like City Department of Planning and Permitting to also look into the issue and get into contact with the new property management team to address the issue.
Hearing no objections, Chair Hazama took the agenda out of order to hear item IV.B. Honolulu Police Department at this time.

Honolulu Police Department (HPD) – [0:11:11]: HPD Lieutenant Navares provided the monthly statistics for January 2025 and safety tip in regards to driving safely. Robert Towne is the new HPD major assigned to the district, who has plans to coordinate a community meet and greet in the near future. HPD Acting Major Gonsalves will be returning to his Captain responsibilities.

Office of Governor Josh Green – [0:16:00]: Melanie Martin provided the report and highlighted the following: Governor Green recently issued executive order 2502 to launch a robust recruitment initiative called Operations Hire Hawaii to assist displaced federal employees and other similarly impacted individuals who have the skill sets that the State is looking for; Attorney General Ann E. Lopez joined 13 other states in suing President Trump to invalidate his executive order which terminates birthright citizenship; the Department of Law Enforcement is warning residents that there are Sheriff impersonators calling individual residents and posing as deputy sheriffs and explaining that there is a warrant out on them because they fail to appear in court. A follow-up response was provided on a question raised at last month’s Board meeting.

Update on Affordable Housing Project at Mililani High School – [1:09:50]: Sherri Nakamura (Hawaii School Facilities Authority Community Liaison) provided an update on the status of the project with a written statement. Since September 2024, Hawaii School Facilities Authority (HISFA) has conducted and attended approximately 12 community meetings, including the Mililani Mauka Neighborhood Board meeting. As a result, from receiving feedback from community members, teachers, and students of the school, HISFA and Pacific Housing Assistance Corporation (developer) finalized the location of the project to be at Mililani High School’s lower campus adjacent to the athletic facilities. HISFA will continue to update the community periodically through neighborhood Board meetings, Mililani High School community council meetings, and on the HISFA website.
