Honolulu Police Department (HPD) – [0:03:40]: Lieutenant Vierra provided the report and shared there were zero assaults, zero burglaries, zero robberies, and zero car break-ins for October 2024. The safety tip for the month is in regards to shopping safety during the holidays.

Board of Water Supply (BWS) – [0:05:30]: Kathleen provided the report and shared there were no water main breaks to report. BWS is looking to hire people to fill open vacancies. More information on career opportunities with BWS can be found on their website. BWS will be installing a temporary bypass at Melemanu 808 Reservoir on Wednesday, November 20, 2024 from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and will have to shut off the water temporarily.

Military Representative Report – [0:07:50]: Selena Genkowski provided the report and shared that U.S Army Garrison just held their last job fair for the year, but for anyone who’s still looking for job opportunities, can apply online. Regular training advisories for the month of November include artillery and mortar live fire training on Schofield Barracks during November 16-27, 2024. There will be day and night live fire, including late evening and early morning hours from 6:00 a.m. to 2:00 a.m. Military bands across Oahu will be hosted at the Waikiki Holiday Parade on Friday, November 29, 2024 at 7:00 p.m. The 83rd Anniversary National Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day Commemoration is open to the public to attend at Kuroda Field in Fort DeRussy Beach Park from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Mililani High School Teacher Housing Project – [0:13:00]: Member Rogers and Member Kuehu attended a community meeting at Mililani High School Library to hear updates from the Hawaii School Facilities Authority (HISFA). The next community meetings will be on December 17th & 18th at the Mililani High School Cafeteria from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

Legislative updates were provided on Resolution 24-272 (requesting the mayor to establish a task force to explore the integration of the EMS program into the HFD) and Bill 46 (empty homes tax).

Office of Representative District 37, Trish La Chica – [0:55:33]: Erin Conway provided the report and highlighted the following: the office has been closely monitoring the avian flu outbreak at the Mililani pet fair in November and provided updates on reports. The Department of Health Director spoke to Rep La Chica and shared that the risk to the public is low and there is no human-to-human infection. There will be a community meeting that the public is invited to attend and discuss the condo insurance crisis. The community meeting will be Tuesday, December 3, 2024 at Mililani Uka Elementary Cafeteria at 5:30 p.m.; Rep La Chica was given an Outstanding Filipino Award from TOPA and was given the Presidential Volunteer Service Award from President Biden for her dedication and service to the Filipino community.

Co-chair Hudson highlighted the following: Mililani Ike Elementary School will have a drop-off location for Toys for Tots and the community is invited to participate by dropping off new, unwrapped toys in the donation can at the school’s office now until Wednesday, December 4, 2024; Mililani Mauka Elementary School Junior Police Officers McDonald’s Night Fundraiser; Wheeler Middle School’s 8th grade students were invited to learn more about Leilehua High School for incoming freshmen; Leilehua High School celebrates its 100th anniversary; A Leilehua High School student was given the National 2024 Scholastic Art Gold Medal in Photography Award. Co-chair Melendrez highlighted the following: Mililani Middle School Blazer Bugle Newsletter; important calendar dates for Mililani Middle School; the School Community Council meets every second Tuesday of the month at 6:00 p.m. and the PTSO meets at 5:00 p.m.; due date to order yearbooks; information to receive free/reduced fee lunch can be found on their website; Mililani Middle School has thirty-two (32) high interest after-school extra-curricular programs that students can join for free; The administrative office will have a drop off location to receive new and unwrapped toy donations for Toys for Tots.
