a. To sign up for brown water advisories and alerts please visit:
https://eha-cloud.doh.hawaii.gov/cwb/#!/landing . Brown water frequently occurs after big storm events. For your safety, it is recommended to not enter the water, ocean, or streams if it is brown. If you have an open wound or cut, it is best to avoid the water until you are healed.
b. Help your keiki learn about stormwater and pollution control. Visit Hawaii Stormwater Patrol website for a free e-booklet and animated videos. https://www.stormwaterhawaii.com/sp-booklet/
c. Learn about green infrastructure and structural best management practices (BMPs) the City Storm Water Quality Division is planning for Akiohala Street. The Kaelepulu Stormwater Quality Improvements Project will remove pollutants from surface water conveyed through City storm drains, with the goal to improve water quality in Kaelepulu Pond. d. “FOLLOW THE DROP” is a stormwater mobile app that collects data on how much stormwater is being generated on a property and provides optimum types and sizes of stormwater capture solutions.
