The Queen’s Medical Center – Wahiawā – Update – [0:18:34]: Robin Kalohelani provided the following updates:
● About 6,500 patients have been served since Queen’s Wahiawā opened.
● 88% of the patients were getting discharged from the Emergency department
● The existing building where the Emergency Room is located is being entirely reroofed
● One of the immediate plans is to expand the Emergency Room footprint

● 2 water main breaks in September 2024

State Department of Transportation (HDOT) – [0:48:23]: No representative present.

IV. RESIDENT CONCERNS & COMMUNITY ANNOUNCEMENTS – [0:48:35]:

From the City’s Department of Parks and Recreation (DPR) – [0:48:42]: Chair Ishikawa announced that the Wahiawa War Memorial Swimming Pool, located at the George F. Wright Wahiawā District Park, is currently closed due to electric issues with the pool’s pump. The pool’s pump had been experiencing intermittent electrical issues, and closures, over the past two weeks. The city electricians are unable to make the needed repairs, and they are working on getting a contractor to assist. DPR sincerely apologizes for the inconvenience while this facility is closed for repairs. Updates on the reopening of the pool will be provided as details become available.

Wahiawā Community Business Association (WCBA) Request Support of the Annual Wahiawā Town Santa Parade on Friday, December 6, 2024 – [0:49:21]: Chair Ishikawa announced that the Wahiawā Community Business Association requests support of the Annual Town Center Parade. If anyone is interested, they are asked to contact WCBA. Member Umaki announced that the parade will be starting at Kaʻala Elementary (130 California Ave.) and will move up on California crossing Kamehameha Highway passing Wahiawā Town Center and will turn left on Cane Street.

Wahiawā Public Library Closing – [0:50:22]: Member Francher announced that the Wahiawā Public Library will be closing in mid-February 2025 to make preparations for construction of a new facility, The Center for Workforce Excellence. The project will take roughly two years. The library’s temporary location has not been announced yet.

ADC Stopping Farmer – [0:53:07]: Scott Wong announced his concerns are in regards to a board member and a state representative meeting with the ADC preventing him from doing his job on his farm that’s leased to him.

Follow Up on Repainting Bike Lane Request – [0:59:29]: Resident Warren shared a concern that the bike lane needs to be repainted near American Savings Bank and 7 Eleven on 649 California Avenue due to vehicles driving into the bike lane. He mentioned that he and Kelly had input a request to have it repainted a couple weeks ago and was wondering if it could be followed up on.
