Discussion and Update on the 5-Bed Special Treatment Facility Catholic Charities in Royal Summit – [1:44:16]: Royal Summit resident Randy Yim provided an update on the Keikialiʻi Street special treatment facility owned by Catholic Charities. Yim shared that Dr. Jack Lewin (Hawaiʻi State Health Planning and Development Agency) accepted Catholic Charities’ Certificate of Need on Tuesday, March 18, 2025. Residents submitted a request for reconsideration of the Certificate of Need approval on Tuesday, April 1, 2025, and a decision is pending. Yim noted that State Senator Elefante and Representative Kong introduced legislation regarding this matter. Residents requested for Catholic Charities to provide a safety action plan and Yim commented that Catholic Charities referred residents to Chair Wood’s February 2025 memorandum (https://drive.google.com/file/d/19J7owH3bqN2zdO2UkUxOYXIT83iy-8qU/view?usp=sharing).
