Presentation: UHCDC (University of Hawaiʻi Community Design Center) Final Report on OCCC – [1:59:00]: Hawai‘i Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (DCR) Director Tommy Johnson provided updates for the new OCCC project and correctional facilities across the State of Hawai‘i. Then, UHCDC representatives led by Cathi Ho Schar presented a final report on the new OCCC design renderings. Discussion and Motion on the Establishment of a 5-Bed Special Treatment Facility Catholic Charities Intends to Operate at 98-697 Keikialiʻi Street – [2:19:57]: Catholic Charities Hawaiʻi plans to operate its Na Ohana Pulama Program where children ages 12-17 years old live in a home in Royal Summit. Catholic Charities Hawaiʻi is seeking the approval for Certificate of Need #24-15A, which would be issued by the Hawaiʻi State Department of Health.
[2:21:15] – Glen MOVED and Tsuji SECONDED to oppose the establishment of a 5-Bed Special Treatment Facility Catholic Charities intends to operate at 98-697 Keikialiʻi Street. Following discussion by Sarah Antone (Catholic Charities), board members, and residents, the motion to oppose the establishment of this special treatment facility was ADOPTED; 9-0-4 (Aye: Anderson, Arakaki, Espiritu, Glen, Higa, Imamura-Uruu, Mizusawa, Sugimura, and Tsuji; Nay: None; Abstain: Caalim, Fitch, Whitfield, and Wood) – [2:47:31].
