• 2025 Neighborhood Board Elections: Registration for the 2025-2027 Board Elections is now open. Candidates can register online at the Neighborhood Commission Office’s website (www.honolulu.gov/nco). Questions can be directed to the Neighborhood Commission Office at (808) 768-3710 or NCO@honolulu.gov. The candidate and voter filing deadline is Friday, February 21, 2025. Voting begins on Friday, April 25, 2025 and ends on Friday, May 16, 2025.
• Abandoned/Vacant Lots and Building Project Permits: For ownership, refer to the Real Property Tax Office website (https://realproperty.honolulu.gov). Other property resources are available at https://www8.honolulu.gov/dpp/resources. For complaints forward to website, https://www8.honolulu.gov/csd/report-a-concern.
• Illegal Game Room: The Gambling Detail of the Narcotics/Vice Division made checks of the area on Monday, January 6, 2025. Based on observation, the Gambling Detail has opened an investigation and is working with District 7 Crime Reduction unit regarding the property.
• Parking on Isenberg Street:
o HPD: The parking meters are part of a city project approved in 2017, initiated in response to community concerns regarding abandoned vehicles and limited parking turnover. The Department of Transportation Services (DTS), in coordination with the Department of Facility Maintenance (DFM), is overseeing the installation process.
o DTS: The City first notified area residents of the parking meters being installed on Isenberg Street in December 2017, via a letter from DTS to the Chair of the McCully-Mōʻiliʻili Neighborhood Board. The meter installations were completed on Monday, January 13, 2025. HPD is responsible for parking meter enforcement, and began enforcing the meters operating hours of 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 21, 2025. In light of recent media attention about the new meters and citizens’ requests for information submitted to the Mayor’s Office, the City has no plans for further public notification about the new meters on Isenberg Street.
• Raised Crosswalk Requests: To assist DTS in determining whether raised crosswalks or speed humps are appropriate near Ala Wai and Kūhiō Elementary schools, please specify the exact intersection or area in question.
• Kapahulu Avenue Bike Path Lighting: The bicycle pathway off Kapahulu Avenue falls under the jurisdiction of the Department of Parks and Recreation (DPR). Any lighting improvement project would need to be initiated by DPR through the Department of Design and Construction (DDC).
• Request to Repair Diamond Head Park Bathrooms by Kapiʻolani Community College: Due to repeated vandalism, DFM has been hesitant in spending more resources into the replacement of plumbing fixtures. However, in the interest of the public, we will investigate the current condition and make necessary repairs as resources are available.
• Broken Shower at Mākālei Beach Park: Shower is currently working. DPR staff check and monitor shower daily. Repairs are made as needed.
