UPDATE: Fort Weaver Road pipe repair
HONOLULU – The City and County of Honolulu’s Department of Environmental Services issues this update to inform the public about the ongoing emergency wastewater pipe repair along Fort Weaver Road in Ewa Beach.
The 30-inch sewer main pipe failed and had to be taken out of service. The failure did not cause a spill, and the pipe has been isolated from sewage flows using a bypass. Due to the complex engineering requirements, the depth of the pipe, and the necessary federal permits, the repair project is anticipated to last months.
To ensure continued functionality during the repair process, a bypass pipe and pumps were successfully installed and are operational. The bypass has caused adjustments to traffic flow patterns along Fort Weaver Road. Specifically, construction staging and work activities will occupy one lane in each direction between Parish Drive and Ewa Beach Road, leaving one lane open for traffic in each direction.
While these measures are crucial to safeguarding the integrity and functionality of the wastewater infrastructure, ENV acknowledges the inconvenience this may cause and deeply appreciates the public’s understanding and cooperation during this period.
