- Put all metal cans in blue curbside recycling bin.

- Newspaper, White & Colored Office Paper: put in blue curbside recycling cart.

PAINTS
- Latex and Oil: Harden or absorb, then dispose of with regular refuse.
- Lead or Aluminum: make an appointment to drop off at the city’s Household Hazardous Waste Events (resident’s only).

TIRES
- Dealers are required to accept and recycle your old tires when you purchase a new one.

MOTOR OIL
- Absorb with an oil change box or in a plastic bag with absorbent material, then dispose of with regular refuse.
ROCK, DIRT, CONCRETE
- Drop off at Waimanalo Gulch Sanitary Landfill (Kapolei)
BATTERIES
- Auto batteries: Dealers are required to accept and recycle your old batteries when you purchase a new one.
- Drop off at city convenience centers or transfer stations.
- Drop off at Going Green recycling drives.
- Standalone Lithium, lithium-ion, NiMH, NiCad: DO NOT DISPOSE IN TRASH!
- Drop off standalone rechargeable and single-use lithium, lithium-ion, NiMH, and NiCad batteries to any city convenience center or transfer station. Please tape the terminals and place in a clear plastic bag.
- Rechargeable batteries used in power tools, cell phones, and laptops may be taken to Home Depot or Battery Bill’s.
- Check with battery dealers like Interstate Batteries, Battery Bill’s or T&N Computer Recycling.

- Alkaline (AA, AAA, D, 9V etc.): Dispose of with regular refuse
HOUSEHOLD TRASH
- Bag and put in gray curbside refuse cart.
- Drop off at a city convenience center or transfer station.

DEAD ANIMAL
***The city cannot collect from private, state, commercial or military roads.***
- Roadkill on city streets in Honolulu area (Foster Village to Hawaii Kai):
- Dead animals will be collected by the Refuse Division. Call 768-3200 Hours: Monday-Saturday from 6am-2pm.
- For after hours and Sunday: email collection@honolulu.gov. Leave name, address, contact number, type of animal and location of animal and you will be contacted the next work day.
- Roadkill on city streets in rural areas (outside of Honolulu) and in Industrial Areas (e.g. Mapunapuna, Sand Island):
- Dead animals will be collected by the Department of Facility Maintenance, Roads Division. See map for roads division areas.
- Roadkill on State Highways:
- Dead animals will be collected by the state Department of Transportation Highways Division. Call (808) 485-6201 (available 24 hours). See listing of roads under state highways division jurisdiction.
- Dead animals from homeowners – Less than 70 lbs.:
- In Honolulu area (Foster Village to Hawaii Kai): Call (808) 768-3200 Hours: Monday-Saturday from 6 a.m.-2 p.m. For after hours and Sunday: email collection@honolulu.gov. Leave name, address, contact number, type of animal and location of animal you will be contacted the next work day.
- In rural areas (outside of Honolulu): contact the appropriate Department of Facility Maintenance, Roads Division District listed above.
- Alternatively, these animals can be taken directly to Waimanalo Gulch Sanitary Landfill. Call (808) 668-2985 ext. 110 to schedule an appointment.
