Takeback programs continue to expand, in accordance to state law and growing industry responsibility.
Apple Trade-In Program
Apple offers free takeback of all Apple products, mail-in and in-store drop-off options available. Also offers limited takeback of other brands’ e-waste.
Best Buy Trade-In Program
Best Buy’s Trade-in Center allows consumers to ship their unwanted electronics (free of charge) to an e-scrap partner (Materials Processing Corporation) for recycling. They then send a Best Buy gift card based on the value of the recycled electronics.
Dell Trade-In Program
Dell offers consumers an opportunity to recycle or donate their old electronic equipment. You can learn more about their asset recovery and recycling program by visiting the site accessible in the link above.
Gateway Trade-In Program
Gateway’s Trade-in & Recycle Program allows consumers to ship their unwanted electronics regardless of manufacturer (free of charge) to an e-processor partner (Deal Tree) for recycling. They then send a check based on the value of the recycled electronics.
Hewlett-Packard Trade-In Program
Hewlett-Packard allows consumers to ship their unwanted electronics of any brand for recycling. HP then sends a check for the value of the returned electronics. As part the new State program, HP is offering local recycling. For more information on local recycling visit the Hawai‘i Department of Health’s website.
Microsoft Trade-In Program
Microsoft Trade-In program allows you to trade in your used devices and get extra cash back. If your devices aren’t eligible, you can recycle them for free.
Target
Target stores have a guest recycling station located in the front of each store. The station is available for small device electronics recycling (MP3 players, GPS devices and ink cartridges). Electronic waste (e.g., mobile phones, small electronic devices, media devices and ink cartridges) is collected by Target’s vendor who resells some product for reuse or refurbishing and recycles the rest.
Toshiba Trade-In Program

Walmart

Xerox has an office equipment mail-back program. E-Waste collection events and drop-off sites are listed on the website for reference.
