HONOLULU– The City and County of Honolulu Department of Environmental Services (ENV) invites the public to a series of community meetings beginning September 2 to discuss the Integrated Plan, which will guide the future of the city’s wastewater and storm water infrastructure.
The meetings will explain what the Integrated Plan is and why it matters. The results from the recent Oahu Clean Water Survey will also be discussed, along with next steps as the plan moves forward. ENV is holding the meetings before key decisions are made so that residents can provide input. With limited resources, the City has to prioritize and residents’ feedback will help determine which projects are funded first.
“This plan will shape how we manage wastewater and storm water on Oahu for decades,” ENV Director Roger Babcock said. “We want the community to have a chance to share their thoughts and concerns. These meetings will give residents an opportunity to ask questions and provide feedback essential to the planning process.”
Community members can attend any of the following meetings (all held 6 p.m.-7 p.m.):
- Wed., Sept 2 at Kailua Elementary School Cafeteria, 315 Kuulei Road, Kailua
- Thurs., Sept 3 at Kapolei Hale Ground Floor Conference Room, 1000 Uluʻōhiʻa St., Kapolei
- Thurs., Sept 10 at Mission Memorial Auditorium, 550 S. King St., Honolulu (in person or virtual)
Residents who cannot attend in person are encouraged to join the September 10 meeting online.
All three meetings will cover the same material, so residents only need to attend one. ENV encourages residents from all parts of Oʻahu to participate and share their perspective on the island’s water future.
