Honolulu’s Skyline rail connects to the Daniel K. Inouye International Airport, and provides travelers and airport employees a convenient and comfortable option to get to and from the airport. Skylines takes riders to and from East Kapolei, the Kalihi Transit Center on Middle Street, and every station in between. With frequent and rapid TheBus service, riders can go to and from the airport beyond Middle Street, to Downtown Honolulu, Ala Moana, Waikīkī, and UH Mānoa.
The Lelepaua Daniel K. Inouye International Airport Skyline Station is located on the mauka side of Terminal 2. It connects to the Terminal 2 Parking Garage (4th floor) and International Parking Garage (4th floor) via a pedestrian walkway on the makai side of the station. Riders may also enter or exit the station from the ground level on Ala Onaona and Ala ʻAuana Streets. Directional signage and marked pathways guide riders between the station and terminals.
The W Line is the newest TheBus route to take riders to and from the Daniel K. Inouye International Airport, Downtown Honolulu, Ala Moana, and Waikīkī. With service every 10 minutes, the W Line is the most affordable way to get to and from Waikīkī and the airport.
Riders will need a HOLO card or cash to ride the W Line. Cash payment does not include a transfer period, and change is not given if paid by cash. However, riders can easily purchase and load a HOLO card at the Lelepaua Skyline Station using the TVM’s on the ground level floor, fronting the station entrance. Fares for TheBus and Skyline are the same, and all passes and fare capping apply for both systems with a HOLO card.
Note, once Skyline ends service at 10:30 p.m., the Route 42 will replace the W Line for the remainder of the day.
All existing City TheBus stops along the airport’s second level roadway are no longer in use.
The temporary bus stop is located on the ground level across from the lei stands on Ala Onaona Street, directly across the Lelepaua Daniel K. Inouye International Airport Skyline Station. A new permanent bus stop on the ground level in front of the Skyline station is under construction.
All three rideshare pickup locations at the airport will relocate from the second floor to the first floor. At Terminal 1, the rideshare pickup area will be located curbside, mauka of Baggage Claim 6. At Terminal 2, two rideshare pickup areas will be relocated to the ground-level median across from Baggage Claims 19/20 and 31.
The Terminal 1 pickup and drop-off location for pre-arranged ground transportation services (passenger shuttles, tours and courtesy car services) will be relocated from the mauka end of the terminal to the makai end of the terminal on the ground level. The pre-arranged transportation services location across from the lei stands will be temporarily closed to accommodate the temporary city bus stop. Three other existing locations for pre-arranged ground transportation services will remain unchanged. These are located on the median across from Baggage Claim 16, on the east end outside of Baggage Claim 31; and at the Consolidated Rental Car Facility.
Wayfinding maps and information about Skyline service and ground transportation modifications are available on the HNL website and HNL Airport app.
