KAILUA – The City and County of Honolulu Department of Transportation Services (DTS) will be restricting parking in Kailua and Lanikai between 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., on Saturday, May 27 to Monday, May 29, in an effort to reduce traffic congestion for residents along the Lanikai-Kaʻōhao shoreline during the Memorial Day 3-day weekend. Parking in Makaliʻi Place, the road closest to Kailua Beach Park, will also be restricted.
No parking will be allowed on Makaliʻi Place in Kailua, and on all streets and shoulders of Mokulua and ʻAʻalapapa Drives in Lanikai starting May 27th from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. until May 29th.
Parking will also be restricted on cross-streets connecting Mokulua and ʻAʻalapapa Drives.
DTS will leave in place temporary “sawhorse” type signs on affected streets in Kailua and Lanikai to warn drivers of the parking restrictions.
