Kailua and Lanikai parking restrictions implemented for Christmas and New Year’s Day weekends

KAILUA – The City and County of Honolulu Department of Transportation Services (DTS) will be restricting parking in Kailua and Lanikai between 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., on Saturday, December 23^rd to Monday, December 25^th 2023, and on Saturday December 30^th 2023, to Monday January 1^st, 2024, in an effort to reduce traffic congestion for residents along the Lanikai-Kaʻōhao shoreline during Christmas and New Year’s 3-day weekends. Parking in Makaliʻi Place, the road closest to Kailua Beach Park, will also be restricted.

No parking will be allowed on Makaliʻi Place in Kailua, and on all streets and shoulders of Mokulua and ʻAʻalapapa Drives in Lanikai starting December 23^rd from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. until December 25^th, and December 30^th from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. until January 1^st, 2024.

Parking will also be restricted on cross-streets connecting Mokulua and ʻAʻalapapa Drives.

DTS will leave in place temporary “sawhorse” type signs on affected streets in Kailua and Lanikai to warn drivers of the parking restrictions.
