HONOLULU – The City and County of Honolulu’s Department of Transportation Services (DTS) is gearing up for game day and encouraging football fans heading to this year’s Sheraton Hawaiʻi Bowl at UH Mānoa to hop aboard TheBus and Skyline for a safe, convenient, and stress-free ride. Kickoff is set for 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 24 (Christmas Eve), making public transit the easiest way to enjoy the excitement and still get home in time for holiday celebrations.

This year’s Sheraton Hawaiʻi Bowl features an exciting matchup between the University of Hawaiʻi (Mountain West Conference) and the University of California (Atlantic Coast Conference), bringing big-game energy to Mānoa on one of the most festive days of the year.

Mayor Rick Blangiardi encouraged fans to plan ahead and use public transit, saying:

“This year’s Hawaiʻi Bowl is especially meaningful for our community, featuring a unique matchup coached by two University of Hawaiʻi legends, Timmy Chang and Nick Rolovich, and we’re expecting a sold-out crowd on Christmas Eve. With that level of excitement and attendance, we want fans focused on the game, not on traffic or parking. TheBus and Skyline offer the safest and easiest way to get to UH Mānoa and back home to celebrate the holiday with family. Go Bows!”

Regular TheBus U Line service (Āhua Lagoon Drive Skyline Station–UH Mānoa via the H-1 Freeway) will operate throughout the day. To improve travel for game attendees, DTS will also run additional U Line service every 15 minutes between 12:15 p.m. and 2:45 p.m. These added trips make it easier than ever for Leeward Oʻahu fans to connect directly from the  Āhua Lagoon Drive Skyline station to UH Mānoa, with plenty of time to get to their seats before kickoff.

“With the game taking place on Christmas Eve, we want to ensure everyone can enjoy the Hawaiʻi Bowl and still make it home safely to celebrate Christmas with their families the next morning,” said DTS Director Roger Morton. “By riding TheBus, Skyline, or both, fans can avoid traffic delays and parking congestion while choosing a safe, reliable way to get to and from the game.”

Along with the U Line and Skyline, the A Line (Āhua Lagoon Drive Skyline Station – UH Mānoa) will be running regular weekday service between the Āhua Lagoon Drive Station and Sinclair Circle at UH Mānoa. Fans can also reach UH Mānoa on Routes 1, 1L, 4, 6, and 13, offering even more options for a smooth trip to campus.

DTS encourages riders to plan ahead using the Transit App, available on both Android and iOS, to map out routes, check arrival times, and stay on top of travel options.

Regular fares will be in effect for Skyline and TheBus. All annual and monthly fares are valid for Skyline and TheBus.

HOLO cards, fares, and passes are available at HOLO ticket vending machines at all Skyline stations, at select retailers, and online. For more information and retail locations, visit www.holocard.net.

Riders are encouraged to arrive early, travel safely, and enjoy a smooth, festive, and stress-free ride as part of their Christmas Eve game day experience.
