Punahele Crowell | Parks Grounds Improvement Supervisor II (TA)
As the Park Grounds Improvement Supervisor II, Puna supervises the Adopt a Park team and is the point of contact for many City contracts within DPR, working closely with vendors and other City departments. Puna also manages the resurfacing and repairing of outdoor courts as well as the restoring and installation of new playgrounds. Puna grew up in Mililani, Hawaii and graduated from Mid Pacific Institute and Southern Oregon University. He now has two daughters with his wife who keeps them very busy with extra curricular activities such as baseball, soccer, gymnastics and dance.

Denny Higa | Adopt a Park Volunteer Coordinator (TA)
As the Adopt a Park Volunteer Coordinator, Denny assists and supports volunteers through the various processes required for the Adopt a Park Program, one-time community services clean-ups, park bench donations and more. Denny is a patron of Parks & Recreation later in life, learning to swim as an adult through one of the many programs offered by DPR, creating a new path in his life and work. Denny started his career with DPR in aquatics as a pool lifeguard, then moved onto becoming a Recreation Director at several different parks before stepping into his temporary assignment as the Adopt a Park Volunteer Coordinator. His primary goal is to facilitate a lasting working relationship between park staff and the community who steward parklands to provide solutions to the many challenges the parks and community face.

Katie Kaizen | Adopt a Park Project Manager

As the Adopt a Park Project Manager, Katie works to build departmental capacity to support volunteer activities to activate parks in an efficient, equitable and user-friendly manner.  As a contract position, funded by the American Rescue Plan Act, she strives to improve the volunteer experience with the Department of Parks and Recreation. Katie began her career in Parks & Recreation in Virginia where she discovered her passion of serving the community. Her goal is for DPR to build a robust and accessible community engagement program to serve the community equitably.
