You can choose from six different positions, at dozens of Summer Fun sites across the island, offering between $16/hour and $20.10/hour. This is full-time employment, for a seasonal period, working for about 336 hours from the end of May through July. Not only is this a fun and dynamic opportunity to work with kids and gain experience in the childcare and recreation industries, becoming part of the Summer Fun staff is now easier than ever with applications being accepted online! Including our Student Aide positions, intended for future or current college students, and Recreation Aide positions. These jobs assist the Recreation Director in conducting activities for children (group of 20) and teenagers. Those amazing activities include games, sports, arts & crafts, music & dance, creative drama. You’ll also take children and teens on excursions, keep statistics, develop lesson plans for activities, help clean up and prepare evaluation reports. These positions have direct contact with or be in authority over children. This position pays $17/hr and is under adult supervision. It's a great opportunity for high school students about to enter college to gain hands-on, real world experience before heading off to higher education! *Requirements: possession of valid American Red Cross First Aid Certificate and a High School graduate or equivalent by June 2026.

Offering $18/hr, you'll further your Summer Fun experience as you oversee additional keiki and help develop tomorrow's leaders! **Requirements: possession of valid American Red Cross First Aid Certificate, High School graduate or equivalent by June 2024. Currently at least a half-time college student in good standing OR intend to continue your college education in Fall 2025. Completed at least one full year (24 credits) of college by end of June 2026.

Paying $19.50/hr you must have at least one year of Summer Fun program experience with DPR as a Student Aide 2 for this position. **Requirements: possession of valid American Red Cross First Aid Certificate, High School graduate or equivalent by June 2024, currently at least a half-time college student in good standing OR intend to continue your college education in Fall 2026, completed at least one full year (24 credits) of college by end of June 2025, and satisfactorily performed at least one year of Summer Fun program work as a Student Aide II for DPR.

There are both full-time and part-time positions available for this life-saving opportunity. Paying $19.23/hr, and open to applicants as young as 16 years old, you may choose to work at one of our 21 pools or three ocean recreation sites. Pool lifeguards teach learn-to-swim classes, oversee pool safety & facilities, and help organize swim activities. At ocean recreation sites, you'll also help keep the participants safe, along with overseeing activities such as: paddling, surfing, diving and lifeguard training. **Requirements: possession of valid American Red Cross Lifeguard Training/First Aid/CPR-AED for the Professional Rescuer Certificate, and experience with children and teens.

Paying $17.76/hr, you'll have similar responsibilities as the above-mentioned Student Aides, primarily including planning activities and watching over the keiki and teens. If you would like to assist people with disabilities by providing reasonable modifications and access, there is a Summer Rec Aide (TR) position available in the Therapeutic Recreation Unit. **Requirements: possession of valid American Red Cross First Aid Certificate, High School graduate or equivalent, and experience with children and teens.

This more specialized on-call position pays $20.80/hr. Formally called Recreation Assistant II (Therapeutic Recreation), we're looking for individuals trained to work with persons with disabilities providing reasonable modifications and access. You'll encourage and foster independence, allowing the participant to do as much as possible without assistance. **Requirements: possession of current American Red Cross First Aid Certificate or equivalent and American Red Cross or American Heart Association Adult, Child, and Infant CPR and AED Certificate (to include care for choking and obstructed airway or equivalent), High School graduate or equivalent, minimum 2 years’ experience working with persons with disabilities.
