Ho‘omaluhia Botanical Garden is closed today, February 2, 2026, due to strong southerly winds knocking down trees and branches throughout the garden. O‘ahu and the rest of the Hawaiian Islands are under a Wind Advisory until 6 a.m.  tomorrow (Tuesday, February 3).

Sustained winds between 20 to 30 miles per hour are expected, with gusts up to 50 mph. Winds this strong can tear off shingles, knock down trees/branches, blow away tents, and make it difficult to steer (especially for drivers of high profile vehicles).

This is also resulting in rough ocean conditions, with a Small Craft Advisory and Gale Warning issued across the islands. Please be safe on the roads. Today is also not a good day for ocean recreation. Be safe and take care.

If you need an auxiliary aid/service, other accommodations due to a disability, or an interpreter for a language other than English in reference to this announcement, please contact the Honolulu Department of Parks and Recreation at (808) 768-3003 on weekdays from 7:45 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. or email parks@honolulu.gov at least three business days before the scheduled event. Without sufficient advanced notice, it may not be possible to fulfill requests.
