Kevin D. Auger

Director

Poʻo

Kevin D. Auger is a seasoned real estate and housing professional with four decades of experience in housing development, finance and commercial real estate investment. As the Director of the Department of Housing and Land Management (DHLM), Kevin leads and coordinates the City and County of Honolulu’s strategic initiatives to facilitate and expand the production, preservation and  management of the City’s affordable housing inventory, transit oriented and mixed-use development efforts and housing finance efforts. He oversees the City’s Affordable Housing Working Group and collaborates across sectors to drive solutions that address Oʻahu’s housing needs.

Before the formation of DHLM, Kevin served as both Deputy Director and Executive Director of the City’s Office of Housing, laying the groundwork for the reorganization of the City’s housing functions under the newly established Department of Housing and Land Management. Prior to his work with the City, he served as Redevelopment Officer for the Hawaiʻi Public Housing Authority, advancing efforts redevelop the state’s public housing assets. Before entering public service, Kevin career included approximately 15 years living and working in New York City for major developers and financial institutions and approximately an 15 years working internationally in  senior leadership positions in Hong Kong, as Managing Director for Wells Fargo’s Pan Asia real estate operations, and South Korea as Managing Director for Lehman Brothers North Asian commercial real estate investment portfolio.

Kevin’s commitment to expanding affordable housing, building sustainable communities and stewarding public lands reflect his deep passion and dedication to ensuring Oʻahu remain a vibrant and inclusive place to live, work, and thrive for all of our residents and future generations to come.

Catherine A. Taschner

Catherine A. Taschner serves as Deputy Director of the Department of Housing and Land Management (DHLM) for the City and County of Honolulu. In this role, she helps lead the department’s efforts to adopt policies and execute real estate transactions to support affordable housing development, strengthen communities, and promote sustainable land management across Oʻahu.

Prior to DHLM’s formation, Cat served as Director of the City’s Department of Land Management (DLM), where she provided leadership on initiatives to optimize public resources and advance community development goals. Before entering public service, Cat worked in private practice as a transactional attorney, advising clients on corporate and real estate transactions and developments across Hawaiʻi.

Cat grew up on Oʻahu, and is deeply committed to expanding affordable housing options and protecting the ‘āina, so that the next generation (including her two young sons) can continue to call this place “home.”
