Comfort Station 1 at Keʻehi Lagoon Park

HONOLULU  The City and County of Honolulu’s Department of Design and Construction (DDC), in partnership with the Department of Parks and Recreation (DPR), will begin preparations for the demolition of Comfort Station 1 at Ke‘ehi Lagoon Park on Monday, August 4, 2025. The project is anticipated to be completed by mid-October 2025.

Located at 465 Lagoon Drive, the facility has remained in disrepair and posed ongoing safety concerns following extensive vandalism in 2016.

The project will involve demolishing and removing the existing structure, followed by site restoration with topsoil and grass. Removing the facility will eliminate safety hazards, reduce the risk of pest infestations and unauthorized use, and enhance both the safety and appearance of Ke‘ehi Lagoon Park.

For public safety, the adjacent playground will be closed during the construction period. Park users should expect increased noise and dust during the demolition and are urged to stay clear of the work zone and obey all posted signage.

The project was designed by Lou Chan & Associates, Inc. at a cost of $30,000, with demolition and site restoration to be carried out by Henry’s Equipment Rental and Sales, Inc. under an estimated construction budget of $111,000.

The City thanks the public for their patience and cooperation as we work to improve Ke‘ehi Lagoon Park for the community.
