City to continue road improvements on Kapiolani Boulevard

UPDATE: Work will take place weeknights, Monday through Thursday (excluding holidays), from 7:00 p.m. to 3:30 a.m. Striping and pavement marking between Date Street and Isenberg Street is scheduled for August 18–21 during these hours, pending approval of required nighttime work permits. If permits are not approved, the work will instead be performed August 18–22 from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

HONOLULU – The City and County of Honolulu’s Department of Design and Construction (DDC) will be installing striping and pavement markers from Wai‘aka Road to Date Street from Monday, August 11th, through Thursday, August 14th. Work will take place between 8:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. daily.

This work is part of the ongoing rehabilitation of streets project, which also includes nighttime construction and is expected to be completed later this year. Striping and pavement marking work from Date Street to Isenberg Street is expected to take place the following week, from August 18-21, between 7 p.m. and 3:30 a.m. pending the approval of necessary permits for nighttime work. if permits are not approved, work will take place from August 18-22 during the day from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

During this period, motorists should expect periodic lane closures and possible traffic delays. Drivers are encouraged to allow extra travel time, exercise caution in the work zone, and follow all posted signs, traffic control devices, and instructions from on-site police officers. The City and County of Honolulu appreciates everyone’s kōkua as the City works to improve our public roadways.
