HONOLULU – The City and County of Honolulu’s Department of Design and Construction will begin parking lot improvements at Beretania Community Park. The project includes the reconstruction of both the public and maintenance parking lots, along with the removal of trees whose roots have damaged existing pavement and sidewalks. These trees will be replaced by four white shower trees (cassia nealiae). The upgraded facility will be designed to meet Americans with Disabilities Act standards, improving accessibility for all park users.

Construction is anticipated to begin on Monday, April 13, 2026, with work scheduled from 8:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. The project is expected to take approximately one year to complete and the parking lot will be closed for the duration of the construction.

Valued at $1,256,800, the project will be completed by Drayko Construction Inc. Once finished, the parking lot will provide 56 public stalls and 15 stalls designated for maintenance services.

The community park will remain open under its regular schedule, from 5:30 a.m. to 10 p.m., during this project. Street side parking will also remain available.

Questions and comments may be directed to the City and County of Honolulu’s Department of Design and Construction at (808) 768-8400.
