The Community Assistance Division provides housing programs to help low-income families on Oahu afford rents, maintain their owner-occupied units, and purchase housing units. Learn more about the Community Assistance Division.
The Community Based Development Division (CBDD) works in partnership with the private for-profit and non-profit sectors and other government agencies to address affordable housing, special needs housing, and shelter and supportive services for people in need. The Elderly Affairs Division is the designated Area Agency on Aging in Honolulu and serves as the Aging and Disability Resource Center. Its objective is to develop a comprehensive and coordinated system of services to assist older persons in leading independent, meaningful and dignified lives in their own homes and communities for as long as possible. The Office of Grants Management is responsible for ensuring that the City issues grants to non-profits as mandated by ordinance and charter. This includes issuing the grant annual solicitation, contracting of awarded grants, and working with grantees to ensure timely reimbursement and satisfactory accomplishment of their grant’s goals. The Early Childhood Coordinator is committed to creating a strong infrastructure to support a coordinated system of early childhood care and learning that addresses equitable access to, and transitions between, high-quality programs and services for all young children and their families, to support their health, safety, and readiness for lifelong learning.
