HONOLULU – The City and County of Honolulu’s Department of Customer Services is seeing growing demand for its DMV and satellite city hall offerings that are just a click away on desktop and mobile sites.
The department’s various online services, which are available through its website, logged more than a quarter-million monthly page views in July over desktop and mobile devices combined. This is the department’s highest number of page views in a single month this year.
The record-setting number is driven primarily by high demand for using desktop and mobile devices to renew vehicle registrations; take a permit test online for a Hawai’i driver’s license; and to replace a lost or damaged driver’s license.
O‘ahu residents are also turning to the department’s online services to apply for personalized license plates as well as to schedule appointments to make in-person visits to a DMV or satellite city hall faster and more convenient. All of this as the department is preparing to make it possible for a Hawai’i driver’s license to be renewed online by early 2026.
“We realize that there is an enormous opportunity to expand our online-service offerings at satellite city halls and driver licensing centers, and we are moving aggressively to seize it,” said Kim Hashiro, director of the city’s Department of Customer Services, which administers DMV services in the City and County of Honolulu.
