HONOLULU – Due to an unexpected air conditioning system failure, the Waianae Driver Licensing Center will be closed until the unit is fully repaired, the City and County of Honolulu’s Department of Customer Services announced Wednesday.
Repairs are currently underway at the driver licensing center, which is located in the Waianae Neighborhood Community Center at 85-670 Farrington Highway and serves about 80 people daily. It is the only office in the building that has been impacted by the air conditioning issue.
The Waianae Satellite City Hall will remain open for services such as renewing a vehicle registration, transferring ownership of a vehicle, and paying utility bills.
Normal operations at the Waianae Driver Licensing Center are expected to resume as quickly as possible for driver licensing services, including the behind-the-wheel road test. In the meantime, employees at the Waianae Driver Licensing Center will be temporarily reassigned to the Kapolei Driver Licensing Center.
Residents with appointments are being notified to go to the Kapolei location or reschedule their appointments.
