Under the general supervision of the Community Services Specialist V, the HONU Community Services Specialist I is responsible for fulfilling the following job duties:
● Performs as a trainee in learning the principals, methods, and techniques in the provisions of professional case management, counseling, guidance and other assistive services to program participants in various community services programs and performs other related duties as required.
● Conduct phone assessment with inquiring participants and referring individuals to determine eligibility in the HONU Program.
● Update case folder notes of participants after each meeting or incident.
● Conduct continuing case management with participants until the participant is no longer enrolled in the program.
● Conduct a daily check of shelter availability.
● Distribute participant snacks, drinks and meals and respond to and assist participants’ needs.
Minimum Qualification Requirements:
Training and Experience: A combination of education and experience substantially equivalent to graduation from an accredited college or university with specialization in psychology, social work, social sciences or a related field.
Knowledge of: principles of interviewing and public relations; report writing; research and techniques.
Ability to: learn the principles, methods and techniques of case management, counseling, guidance and other assistive services; learn, understand and explain laws, rules and regulations pertaining to community services program and operations; obtain and analyze and evaluate facts; deal effectively with others.
