        7.3      Makiki Stream Update – Ron Lockwood.

                  - The Army National Guard cleared stream of debris by the truckloads. Silt still needs to be removed. Since December, silt is 1.7 feet higher at South King Street and Kalakaua Avenue and three (3) feet higher at Kalakaua Avenue and Phillip Street.

*8.1    Resolution on Beachwalk Emergency Wastewater Bypass – Ron Lockwood

      - To ask that the park, community garden, school boundary and ballfield be returned in better than found condition.

*8.2    Election 2006 – 2007 Officers – Ron Lockwood

          - Need to elect a Chairperson, at least one Vice Chair, Secretary and Treasurer.

 

9.     APPROVAL OF MINUTES – January 5, February 2, March 2, and May 4, 2006 Minutes

11.    COMMITTEE REPORTS

 

      11.1    Affordable Housing / Homeless – Betty Lou Larson

                - The next meeting is on June 21 at 7 p.m. at the Care A Van office (1640 South King Street).

      11.2    Legislative Affairs – Clifton Takamura

      11.3    Outreach – Selection of Committee Chair (by Chair Lockwood)

      11.4    Planning and Zoning – Ron Lockwood

                - The next meeting is on June 2 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the American Legion Post, 612 McCully Street. There will also be another meeting on July 6 at Lunalilo Elementary School.

      11.5    Public Safety – Albert Furuto

      11.6    Sub-District Boundary – Ron Lockwood

                - Work should be completed and will dissolve upon acceptance by the Neighborhood Commission.

      11.7    Dog Park (Temporary/Special Committee) – Ron Lockwood

                - Committee is now in recess, subject to recall.

      11.8    School Liaison – Shaunna Tabor

        12.1    Friday, May 26 – Prince Kuhio School Culture Fair

        12.2    Monday, June 12 (second Monday of each month) – 5 p.m. – Prince Kuhio Elementary School SCC in the Library.

12.3    Wednesday, June 14 – 9 to 10:30 a.m. – Old Town Moiliili Business Association (OTMBA) next meeting at the Hope Chapel Manoa (for details see www.otmba.org).

        12.8    Makiki Stream Clean-Up (8 a.m. at Jack-in-the-Box on South King Street & Kalakaua Avenue)

      12.9    "Antiques Roadshow" – At the Hawaii Convention Center in August

                  - Everyone is allowed up to two items to be appraised. Details to follow.

12.10  Senior Support Center – "to stimulate & challenge seniors with a variety of activities"

          - From 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. Call 955-1555 for details.

        12.11  Elder Care Service – Over 60 and need in-home assistance? Call 955-1555 for details.

        12.12  Visit www.freecycle.org for ideas on re-using rather than trashing.

 

13.    ADJOURNMENT

 

        13.1    The Board will recess in July. The next meeting is scheduled for Thursday, August 3, 2006.
