FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE October 13, 2005 Release M-77 MAYOR SIGNS THREE MEASURES Mayor Mufi Hannemann has signed into law the following measures: · Bill 71 (2003), which rezones 5 acres on the makai end of the Central Union Church site at Punahou and Beretania Streets from A-2 (medium-density apartment) to BMX-3 (community business mixed use). The bill allows the church to create transferable development rights that it intends to sell to raise funds to maintain the existing church structures and the Great Lawn along · Bill 45, CD1, which removes the two-year period within which real property tax refunds are made; clarifies the procedure by which refunds and adjustments are applied to a parcel and changes the interest paid on any repayment of taxes resulting from a tax appeals court ruling from 8 percent to the average interest rate earned on City investments in the General Fund during the previous fiscal year. · Resolution 05-256, which authorizes acquisition of six easements for the historic Anahulu Stream bridge in Haleiwa. The bridge was built in 1921, without the easements being obtained.
