KAILUA TREATMENT PLANT WORK REPAIRS
SCHEDULED TOMORROW
Required maintenance at the Kailua Wastewater Treatment Plant tomorrow (Wednesday, May 2, 2007) could cause an increase in noise and odors in the vicinity.
During this phase of the project, workers will remove one of two bar screens at the facility at 95 Kaneohe Bay Drive. An enclosure around the bar screen will have to be removed to allow workers to remove the 45-foot-long bar screen. The work will occur during business hours, between 7:45 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., when wastewater flow volume is low.
City officials have alerted Aikahi Elementary School and nearby residents.
“We regret the inconvenience, but the work is absolutely necessary,” said Eric Takamura, the City’s Environmental Services director.
