ADOPTING THE SOLID WASTE INTEGRATED MANAGEMENT PLAN UPDATE AS A
PLANNING GUIDE FOR SOLID WASTE MANAGEMENT ON OAHU TO SATISFY ACT
324, SESSION LAWS OF HAWAII, 1991, RELATING TO INTEGRATED SOLID
WASTE MANAGEMENT.
WHEREAS, the Solid Waste Integrated Management Plan Update
(hereinafter "Plan Update") has been completed in accordance with
the requirements of Act 324, SLH 1991; and
WHEREAS, the adoption of the Plan Update by the city is also
required by Act 201, adopted by the 1994 State Legislature, to
receive State moneys for county glass recovery programs; and
WHEREAS, the adoption of this Plan Update is not to be
construed as the Council's approval for funding all the solid
waste proposals and programs in the Solid Waste Integrated
Management Plan and Plan Update; and
WHEREAS, the members of the City Council were briefed on the
Plan Update on February 28, 1994; and
WHEREAS, a public hearing was held by the department on
August 2, 1994, at the end of the required sixty-day public
comment period following the publication of the final draft plan;
now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City and County of
Honolulu that the Solid Waste Integrated Management Plan Update
be and hereby is adopted as a planning guide for developing
integrated solid waste management programs for the city; and
BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the clerk be and hereby is directed to provide certified copies of the resolution to the Director of the Department of Public Works.
