APPROVING THE COMPENSATION AMOUNT FOR LEGAL SERVICES PROVIDED BY THE CORPORATION COUNSEL TO THE BOARD OF WATER SUPPLY.

    WHEREAS, Section 7-116, Revised Charter of Honolulu, provides that the Department of the Corporation Counsel shall be the legal advisor of the Board of Water Supply (Board) and shall be compensated for legal services as agreed upon by the Board and the City Council; and

    WHEREAS, the Board has been paying the Corporation Counsel's office a $2,000 per month fee since January 1, 1987, pursuant to the agreement of the Board and City Council through the adoption of Communication D-1144, dated October 3, 1986; and

    WHEREAS, because of increasing costs and an increase in the volume and complexity of the services provided to the Board, the Corporation Counsel recently reevaluated the adequacy of the current monthly fee and proposed to the Board that the fee be increased to $2,500 per month, effective January 1, 1992; and

    WHEREAS, the Board, by Department Communication No. 8, dated December 27, 1991, advised the City Council that it is in agreement with Corporation Counsel's proposal to increase the monthly fee to $2,500 for legal services provided by Corporation Counsel, and recommends that the City Council approve the said fee increase, effective January 1, 1992; now, therefore,

    BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City and County of Honolulu that the recommendation as proposed by Department Communication No. 8 to increase the monthly fee from $2,000 to $2,500 for legal services provided by Corporation Counsel to the Board of Water Supply, effective January 1, 1992, be and hereby is approved; and

    BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that copies of this resolution be transmitted to the Manager and Chief Engineer of the Board of Water Supply and the Corporation Counsel.
