DECLARING THE POLICY OF THE CITY IN SUPPORT OF RECYCLING AND
REQUESTING THE CITY ADMINISTRATION TO RECYCLE SOLID WASTE TO THE
EXTENT FEASIBLE.
WHEREAS, there is presently a shortage of solid waste
disposal sites in the City and County of Honolulu; and
WHEREAS, the process of disposing of our solid wastes, such
as paper, glass and metals, can be time-consuming, expensive and
wasteful; and
WHEREAS, the City and County of Honolulu incurs significant
costs in the pickup, transport and disposal of solid waste; and
WHEREAS, current technologies often make it cost-effective
to recycle solid wastes; and
WHEREAS, the City Council has established a successful paper
recycling program within the Legislative branch of the City and
County; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City and County of
Honolulu that it declare and it hereby declares that it is the
policy of the City and County of Honolulu to support the safe and
efficient recycling of solid waste, including paper, glass and
metals; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Administration is BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the Clerk be directed to transmit copies of this Resolution to the Mayor and Managing Director of the City and County of Honolulu.
