TO AMEND RESOLUTION NO. 85-306 RELATING TO THE RETENTION PERIOD FOR DOCUMENTS AND OTHER RECORDS.

    WHEREAS, Resolution No. 85-306 provided that the departments and agencies of the City and County of Honolulu be authorized to destroy certain obsolete records at the end of specified retention periods; and

    WHEREAS, the said Resolution No. 85-306 expressly excluded from its provisions all personal injury and property damage documents pending further review by the Council; and

    WHEREAS, the Council has reviewed the matter and concluded that personal injury and property damage documents should be retained for a minimum of six years; now, therefore,

    BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City and County of Honolulu that Resolution No. 85-306 be amended to provide that the retention period for personal injury and property damage documents be six years from the time such documents are generated; and


    BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the Clerk be, and he is, hereby directed to transmit copies of this resolution to Frank F. Fasi, Mayor, City and County of Honolulu, and to Roberta A. Cabulong, Director, Municipal Reference and Records Center.
