The Community Recreational Gardening Program

Welcome to the City and County of Honolulu's Community Recreational Gardening Program.  This program was started in 1975 to provide people living in Honolulu's densely populated communities access to garden plots.

We are glad that you are interested in joining our program and want to encourage your participation in all aspects of garden activities once you become a member.  A community spirit brought to the garden will ensure gardening success to all members.

The City has established a set of rules that can be found in the garden handbook, available at the following link, http://www.honolulu.gov/parks/rules/garden.htm

There are 10 community garden sites in the City's program.  Please see the list below, for locations and costs (fees include membership dues and City user fees).

How to Apply For a Community Garden Plot:

1.   Attend the meeting of the garden in which you are interested.

2.   Fill in the application at the meeting.

3.   If there are no plots currently available, you will be placed on a waiting list and will need to attend subsequent meetings to obtain a plot.  You need to be present at the meeting to have a plot assigned to you

If you have any questions, please call Mr. Nathan Wong, Community Garden Coordinator, at 522-7063.
