GETTING READY

Notify and assist family, friends, and neighbors, especially elderly or disabled.

Arrange for transportation:

      Car (fill gas tank)

     Ride with neighbors.

Brief family on emergency plan:

     Destination;

     Evacuation routes;

     Rendezvous point, if separated.

Assemble Valuables:

     Important papers, jewelry, etc.

     Store those you cannot carry on secured shelves or upper floors.

Determine care of pets.

Secure and store loose items:

     Outside-inside

Locate utility shut-offs:

     Electric and gas.

Store drinking water:

     Containers, bathtub, washing machine.

Board up or tape windows/glass doors.

Moor small boats or move to a safe area.

Use telephone only for emergencies.

Monitor radio and TV for instructions.

NOTE: Pets CANNOT be brought into shelters, but can be left at home or in your car.
