I.                    CALL TO ORDER at 6:30 p.m. by Chair Lockwood

 

II.                  ELECTION OF OFFICERS for June 1, 2008 – May 31, 2009.  Duties of these offices can be found in RNP, Rule 5 for Chair, Vice Chair, Secretary, and Treasurer.

 

III.                  FILING OF BOARD VACANCIES.  Sub-District Two --- 2 openings

IV.        PUBLIC SAFETY & COMMUNITY LIAISON (11 Minutes):  Questions in private or in writing to these officials before or after they speak would be greatly appreciated to save time.

      VIII.       HOUSEKEEPING (5 Minutes) for information and action if necessary

A.      Stream / Watershed Status Report. see: manoawatershed.oceanit.com

                                              1.          Ala Wai Canal Bypass Update:  Go to www.beachwalkbypass.com

                                              2.          Hausten Ditch:  No action due to cost

                                              3.          Makiki Stream:  Was cleaned May 17th. Clean again Aug 23rd, Nov 1st and May 16, 2009 

                                              4.          Manoa Stream:

B.  Economic Challenge Hawaii Winner:  Iolani School s won the Western Regional Economic  Challenge Championships. This is the fourth year in a row Iolani represented Hawaii. Advisor Dick Rankin and the team will compete in New York City for the National Championships.  Best of Luck.

C.  Washington Middle School: 

1.        Chess Team.  In their first year of competition the sixth grades finished second  in the State Championships while the seventh and eighth grade teams finished third.

2.        Math Team.  At the National Math Meet the school’s entrant finished 95th  in the country compared to 146th last year. Next year’s goal is the Top 40!

3.        Box Car State Championships.  In their first year of competition the school took two awards - second place in racing and Best in Show Award.

4.        The school was rated by Honolulu Magazine as the “Most Improved School” in the State as part of their annual school issue for June 2008.

D.      Bicycle Master Plan meeting of May 2008.  Report/Update

E.      Prince Kuhio School celebrated the tenth anniversary of the “Artist in School” sculpture on May 29th.  The “Mo’o” is in front of the Library and it is truly a collaborative effort between the artist and the students.  Our thanks to the legislators who funded this program.

F.      T.A.G., Wal-Mart and Hui o Makiki on Saturday, June 21st will hold graffiti paint out.  We will meet at WMS at 8:00 a.m.  We need many volunteers.

G.     Year End Report of 2007 – 2008 McCully – Moiliili Neighborhood Board Actions is part of tonight’s agenda.  Please read at your leisure.

H.      Appointment of Committee Chairs.  RNP Rule 5 Section 4-5.2 a (7) Chair shall, “Appoint all

committee chairs, unless otherwise directed by the board.”

K.  Office of Elections is seeking Precinct Officials in your community on Saturday, September 20, 2008            and Tuesday, November 4, 2008.
