Regular Meeting Agenda

RULES OF SPEAKING: Anyone wishing to speak must raise their hand; and when recognized to speak, addressing comments to the Chair. Comments must relate to the pending agenda item. Speakers are encouraged to keep their comments under 1 minute, and those giving reports are encouraged to keep their reports under 3 minutes. Please silence all electronic devices.

NOTES: The Board may take action on any agenda item. As required by the State Sunshine Law (Hawaii Revised Statutes Chapter 92), specific issues not listed on this agenda cannot be voted on, unless properly added to the agenda. Only two (2) turns per person to speak, including Board members, of one minute each.

II.         PUBLIC SAFETY & COMMUNITY LIAISON (20 Minutes) - Questions in private or in writing to these officials before or after they speak would be greatly appreciated to save time

      VII.    HOUSEKEEPING (5 Minutes) for information only; material that arrived after the agenda deadline

A.   Reminder.  Recess of our January 1st meeting

B.   Mo’ili’ili Graduate Planning Practicum Fall 2008 (resource for board)

C.   Legislators Community Clean up of October 18th Report (covered in IV above)                        

             D.   Kapiolani Medical Center Upgrade.   There is a 15plus year renovation plan for the removal and             replacement of buildings and parking.  A presentation will be scheduled for our input into the                  Environmental Analysis (EA) in the coming months. 

              E.  Public Hearings – Draft EIS Transit.  Comments are due by January 7th.

                       Dec. 8th (6 – 8 p.m.) Neal Blaisdell Center, Hawai’i Suites

               F. Care-A-Van an organization that provides services to the homeless will be moving from our                   neighborhood board area to a new location.  They have been a good neighbor and we wish               them well.

              G.  Report on Neighborhood Commission Meeting of Nov. 24th. R. Lockwood

                    There will be on-line voting for the 2009 Neighborhood Board elections with a printed

                     mail out notification.  Candidate applications are available tonight

 

VIII.   UNFINISHED BUSINESS (5 minutes per / topic) 

             Facility Charges from Washington Middle School

             Need to approve the increase in charges per meeting

             ($46.30/ hour custodial x 2 hours and $9.10/ hour utilities x 3 hours = $119.90 / meeting)

Next meeting is to be determined as 2008 Legislation is being reviewed

B.      Public Safety & Legislative Affairs – Chairs: DeVilbiss (Pub Safe)  & Takamura (Leg)

       Issues include but are not limited to: HPD, HFD and Emergency Management Legislative    packages. Elderly Drivers, Pedestrian Safety, Street Repairs, Street Signs, Night Court.

        Next meeting: 3rd Thursday of each month @ MCC

C.      Planning, Zoning & Transportation – Chair: Carlos & Vice Chair Kondratovich

       Issues include but are not limited to: Public Condemnation for private concern

       Transit Oriented Development / Bicycle Master Plan

Next meeting is the 3rd Tuesday of each month @ American Legion Post

 D.  Schools & Community Outreach - Chairs Tabor & Kyi-Yim

                          Issues include but are not limited to: UH -Manoa Long Range Development Plan review,
